  • Opole is a regional centre for EMU services and the EN57 units are everywhere. With a fairly new road bridge as background PKP EN57-1406 and EN57-686 wait in the bay platforms
  • The main platforms have canopies that make photography awkward as the sun is invariably in the wrong place! EN57-895 pauses with a southbound service
  • EP09-006 arrives with an IC service from Krakow
  • EP09-006 is about to depart with EC248 Krakow to Hamburg service running about 20 minutes late
  • Some EN57 units have been renovated and feature a new front end. EN57-2072 is one of these units and is stabled alongside the main platforms
  • The sidings alongside the station hold several EN57 units at most times of the day - EN57-1077 and EN57-108 both feature the corrugated body sides
  • EN57-1387 is stabled alongside the platforms
  • Part of a series of refurbished locos ET22-2024 heads south through the station with a string of tank wagons
  • Still in original condition but liveried for PKP Cargo ET22-947 passes through the station
  • With the grand station buildings in the background EN57-1406 gets a 'wash and brush up' as EN57-686 waits for departure time with R60027 to Zawadzkie
  • Roumanian-built diesel ST43-217 potters about under the new road bridge on the side of the station that leads to the freight yard
  • Two examples of the new generation of diesel units that work in the area - SA134-011 has arrived with R69927 from Nysa and SA103-003 waits in the next platform over
  • Freshly re-painted and cleaned EN57-871 sits alongside an old goods shed as the staff remove their tools and equipment
  • Opole has an active depot but, sadly, many of the occupants are withdrawn and probably waiting their last journey to the scrapyard. SM31-011 sits on the scrapline at the side of the depot
  • On the scrapline at the depot is ET22-250
  • Also on the scrapline was this SM42 which had the details removed or painted out
  • A bit of reflection on the flash but it does show the latest PKP Cargo livery on EU07-193
  • Heavy maintenance takes place in the depths of the workshops - ST43-302 has had its bogies removed and sits up in the air
  • The new system of European-wide numbering seems to be taking place in Poland - however it appears to be at all odds to the system being used elsewhere! ET22-1076 has the numbers below its old numberplate but I haven't worked out yet how it all works
  • Another example with the 'new' numbers - ET22-738 sits inside the depot
