  • 33052 'Ashford' was under repair during Eastleigh BREL Open Day on 12 October 1986
  • 37085 and 47307 are under repair at Thornaby on 19 November 1986
  • Sitting in front of the depot building at Motherwell on 15 November 1986 was 37174
  • In 1986 a batch of Class 37 locos at Motherwell were renumbered, named and dedicated to work for the nearby British Steel plants. On 15 November 1986 37311 (formerly 37156) 'British Steel Hunterston' appears to undergoing a fairly half-hearted clean inside the depot buildings
  • 37326 'Glengarnock' sits at Motherwell TMD on 15 November 1986
  • 33015 heads west through Cosham with a Portsmouth - Cardiff service in May 1987
  • 31232 runs through Gateshead with a train of 21 ton mineral wagons on 19 August 1987
  • On 30 September 1985 5 Class 37 locos were named in a joint ceremony to mark the involvment with British Steel in the movement of their products around the country. I managed to catch four of the locos on the return journey of what I suspect were their first revenue hauling duties at York. In this photo 37071 'British Steel Skinningrove' and 37077 'British Steel Shelton' head north with what looks to be the return coil train from Corby on 2 October 1985

  • 'Skinhead' 31450 and 31176 head south from York on 11 June 1985
  • 31168 approaches York on 11 June 1985 with a train consisting of coaches for repair at the nearby Works
  • 'Skinhead' 31117 stands at Paddington in April 1984
