  • 33052 'Ashford' was under repair during Eastleigh BREL Open Day on 12 October 1986
  • 37085 and 47307 are under repair at Thornaby on 19 November 1986
  • Sitting in front of the depot building at Motherwell on 15 November 1986 was 37174
  • In 1986 a batch of Class 37 locos at Motherwell were renumbered, named and dedicated to work for the nearby British Steel plants. On 15 November 1986 37311 (formerly 37156) 'British Steel Hunterston' appears to undergoing a fairly half-hearted clean inside the depot buildings

  • On 30 September 1985 5 Class 37 locos were named in a joint ceremony to mark the involvment with British Steel in the movement of their products around the country. I managed to catch four of the locos on the return journey of what I suspect were their first revenue hauling duties at York.   • 31168 approaches York on 11 June 1985 with a train consisting of coaches for repair at the nearby Works
