  • 73121 still has its 'Croydon' nameplates but has lost the coat of arms as it shunts some vans at Eastleigh on 12 October 1986
  • The only time I ever saw a pair of 87's on a coal train! Although not unknown in pairs on steel coil trains I was caught unawares as 87027 and 87031 ran into Warrington Bank Quay on 30 September 1985
  • 86103 pulls into Crewe on 25 November 1982 with a down passenger service
